about

Its Saturday morning and my studio looks like my girls were playing in here for an eternity, but I'm the one to blame. I've been pushing to get almost all the songs of the the project called epoch written, recorded and processed. I'm still fine tuning and obsessing as usual but you can stream all the songs as they are in their entirety now but don't be surprised if something changes between now and the release.

Anyway, for those of you who have fun tapping into your computer's audio system it can be had for free, but for those of you who just can't afford it and hate to hang in a wi-fi enabled location to stream directly from the site, just PM me and I'm sure we can work something out. Karma is a good thing.

The general theme of epoch varied over the course, but has finally settled into tracks which represent key aspects of the world in the way it lands on David. For the most part epoch is very emotionally evoking, even as even keel as it is. Its like those moments when one begins anticipating something that is going to have a material effect on you. In this case, despite the subject matter, it brings on a thought provoking meditative state.

For this project, I spent time reorganizing the studio and rethinking the approach for recording and writing. I've been pleasantly surprised with how many obscure methods can be used with reel-to-reel tapes, old digital kawai modules, modified samples of random things and things I love most like my toddler daughter saying "Don't hit people" on the track titled Violence Unfortunate and my wife's "Upload Completed" sample on the track Uploaded. I broke out my Kawai K1, Rhodes, mpc500, my fender Pbass, a little acoustic and electric guitar, various analog synths, and tasty effects for the bulk of the music. Most of the samples were taken with a little Roland Edirol or the mpc. I also have to give credit to samples from a TFK song which must remain top secret..

The pre-order and final release will come with a full resolution image of the album artwork, description of the motivation behind each track and an autographed list of the instruments used for each of the tracks. I'm happy to chat with you as well about any of the music.

These works are available with other licensing terms per request.
